About Burdock Wellness Coaching
What I Do
I offer integrative health coaching programs to help you thrive through perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. Find freedom from problems such as weight gain, high blood sugar, anxiety, brain fog, and sleep issues. I am passionate about wellness coaching! I love working as your patient and persistent ally as you manifest your ultimate wellness vision by helping you pinpoint root causes of mental and physical health stressors.
My Approach
I practice integrative nutrition health coaching, a style of wellness coaching that takes your bioindividuality into account. Depending on your preferences, needs, and goals, I focus on nutrition, movement, and emotional wellbeing, as well as on social, cultural, environmental, and spiritual connection. In working with you, I draw on my expertise in nutrition and metabolic and circadian (sleep) health; on my transformational creative writing, drawing, and comics background; on my research and writing on topics of trauma and intergenerational trauma; on my love of movement and wilderness trails; and more!
My Background: The Dock Is In!
After graduating from a course in Wise Woman Herbalism 30 years ago, I legally changed my last name to "Burdock" after the prolific plant that thrives easily in many different places in the world. With my herbalism certificate in hand, I moved to the Taos, New Mexico area and worked as an herbalist at a small company there, harvesting and wildcrafting herbs in the nearby mountains and working with customers from diverse backgrounds.
I've done loads of things since then, including working on adobe construction sites, running my own graphic design and illustration business, and teaching college students. I love to combine my passion for natural healing and wellness coaching with my love of art-making, writing, research, and teaching. I earned a PhD in cultural studies from the University of California, Davis, and I studied integrative nutrition health coaching at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). I am the creator of two graphic novels about trauma, memory, and belonging, and I'm working on a third one about sleep that will be published in 2025.
I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico with my wife and boxer dog, Gracie, where I love to run and backpack in our breathtakingly gorgeous wilderness areas and share as much time as possible with my two amazing adult children.
